I like the name Nancy very much. I tend to pronounce it with a "t" in the middle..Nantcy.Does anyone else do this? It may be my regional accent.

I just said it to myself a few times, and I realize I do put a subtle T there.

I like Nancy. It definitely has a retro feel for me. It's on the rise in the UK, at the moment it's at #76.I prefer it as a nickname, generally, but it works as a full name.

I love Nancy. I think it's soft and pretty, and I absolutely love the nickname "Nan". I dislike all the famous associations. I think of Nancy Pelosi (Minority Leader in the US House of Representatives) of whom I am not a fan, and it has a very dated vibe to the mid 20th Century here in the US. I would still use it, if it were not DH's Aunt's name.Nancy Elaine
Nancy Manon
Nancy Melissa
Nancy Isobel
Nancy Delilah
Nancy Mavourneen
Nancy Myrtle
Nancy Lorinda
Nancy Isla
Nancy Paderau
Nancy Quinn
Nancy Glenna

It's getting popular here in the UK, I know of two Nancys born this year.

I'm not really a fan, but I think Nancy can work as a full name. I live in the US and it sounds incredibly dated in a bad way.

I think of it as young and lively, because the only Nancys I know of are older teens and a five-year-old. I like it.
eta: it's in the top 100 here in the UK.

I have an Aunt named Nancy. She is mid fifties I would guess. It has a very dated vibe, like Janet. But it is not bad. I think Nance might be a little more hipster-y and stylish right now - but I like Nancy better. I only think of Nancy as a full name. My mom calls her Nan or Nana-Banana.

I absolutely don't like it. Nancy is just one of those unattractive and very much dated names. A name best left on someone born, say, during the 60's and before. Completely out of place on a very younger individual.
According to the statistics, the name has been decreasing for a while. In my honest opinion, I hope it drops off soon. It should have left the charts DECADES ago. A name best left in the past.

add on.I forgot to mention that for some really strange reason, my maternal grandmother used to refer constantly refer to my older sister as 'Nancy'
My sister's name is Kristina...nowhere close to the other name.
I give the name Nancy two thumbs down but the memory mentioned was very humorous.

It's sort of dated here. I guess if I met a very small child called Nancy it might be surprising and nice, but it's in between being a mom name and a grandmother name.My husband has a friend who goes by Nancy, but her real name is Athanasia.

Nancy was one of my two favorite names when I was 10-12 years old. (The other was Ellen.)Then my brother married a woman named Nancy. I thought she was okay when he was married to her, although my mother didn't like her. But then they divorced and she took his son away from him, so I turned into not a fan of Nancy (meaning the woman, not the name.)Then there's Nancy Reagan, whom I'm also not a fan of.Aside from the associations, something about Nancy seems limp and sticky to me. (I also outgrew my affection for Ellen, btw.)It's not terrible. There are a lot of names out there that are worse. But it's certainly not something I love or would consider using. It's also very dated in the US.
