Alice
I have always loved the name Alice, but I have never been able to get past the fact that it has the word 'lice' in it. It is a shame, since it is such a beautiful sounding name.
WYDT? Would you ever use it?___________________________________________________Rate my PNL! http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/170369

I don't think that the "lice" is a problem, since it's not pronounced a-LICE.
I've never been very fond of Alice, but recently I read Georgia Byng's The girl with no nose in which the protagonist is called Alice and since she was such a lovely person, I thought that maybe Alice isn't that bad after all. But I prefer it pronounced in French, a-LISS.
Alice is very popular in Sweden for the moment, every other girl is named Alice. Or Elsa.

Alice is one of my favourite names, I think it is timeless and elegant, really beautiful sounding, I have never noticed the lice as that is not referred in the name.
I would definitely use it, it is a great name.

I used to really dislike it but now it's actually recently made my top 10. How about the Alys spelling? Then there's no 'lice' problem!

Never been a fan, even though it's very like my other favorites in style. I don't usually like names ending in an -is sound. I like Alexandra, Allie, and I can handle Alison.Never noticed lice.

I used to really like it, but I'm more meh on it now. It's pleasant, but boring. The "lice" thing doesn't bother me at all.

Honestly, I never even saw or heard "lice" in Alice until I became a member of BtN. I still don't notice it, actually. I think it's a stretch.I like the name just fine, but it doesn't light my fire.

Alice is such a boring name to me. I personally wouldn't use it, but I wouldn't cringe if I met someone named Alice. It isn't even pronounced like "lice" so that's a non-issue to me.

I'd never use it, because I don't like it and never have. It's dumpy and frumpy trying to be little-girl cute. The lice factor doesn't even come into it, mainly because it doesn't have the word lice in the pronunciation.

I love it, and not for a child, because it's not my favorite, but for a character, yes,

I'd use it without hesitation. As for A + lice, just remember that A indicates a singular noun to follow, and lice is plural. Problem solved? I hope so! And, if it isn't, then (for crying out loud!) lice doesn't even sound like the second syllable of Alice. Your problem is purely visual.

I wouldn't use it, but not because of "lice". I've never even noticed that. I think if that were a problem, it wouldn't be the classic, established name that it is. I wouldn't use it just because I'm not crazy about it. It has a dumpy vibe for me that I can't seem to banish. But it's not terrible.

Love it! The lice bit doesn't bother me.

I like Alice but worry people will want to shorten it to Ally. I have no problems with the word lice in it, probably because it isn't pronounced Al-Lice but Al-liss.

That would never occur to me! I would absolutely use Alice, it's been in my top 10 forever. Simple and beautifulWhat about the older spelling Alys?

Alice is so pretty and I don't think I've ever noticed that lice is in the name! I'd consider using it, it's so lovely.

I love Alice too, it's in my Top Ten currently.I love the nickname Ali.I also love how strong Alice can be; it's a feminine name but not frilly.Because I pronounce Alice "AL-lys", I don't hear the 'lice' and therefore don't really see it in the written word.

I'd use in a heartbeat. it should have been my name. Pop vetoed it, for reasons I cannot fathom. :). I adore Alice!
