Nickname for Eleanor?
Any ideas on a nickname for Eleanor?
I know the typical Ella or Ellie responses but there are way too many little girls that go by those names for my liking. I would prefer something a little less common.
Or do you feel like Eleanor is getting overused these days too?

Lea or Nora are options. I personally love Elle, and find it more stylish than Ella or Ellie, although both of those are super cute. Elsie might actually work for Eleanor, if you like it. I do, but it's not everyone's style, and people would assume that her full name was Elspeth, Elizabeth or Elisabeth.
Nora is the obvious alternative. Or just no nickname.
I love Eleanor and plan to use it one day if I have kids.
I would like to use the nickname Nola, but will also probably use Nell and Nora.
I've heard Lea, which is pretty.

As a few of you mentioned, I too prefer Eleanor in full... but assuming I would use it on my daughter in a few months, I feel like it is inevitable that someone will refer to her as a nickname. With that being said, I would prefer to choose one to my liking so when someone does, we could say "oh, it's actually ___" so she doesn't end up one of the 10 Ellas in her class.
Thanks for everyone's input! :)

Eleanor is popular but not overused. I actually prefer the full form, without any nicknames. If I had to use a nickname I guess it would be Ellie but I really much prefer the full name. Other ideas: Nell, Nellie, Nella, Nora, Elle.
I have to say that I personally dislike using names as nicknames that can also be full names. I don't have a problem with other people doing it but I personally never understood Eleanor nn Ella or Eleanor nn Nora because you might as well just name her Ella and Nora as those are popular names on their own (they both place even higher than Eleanor).

I'm never sure if I like Nora or Nell better. My first angel baby I thought of as Eleanor "Nora."
I only know of one young Eleanor, so I wouldn't say it's common.

Nor, Nora, Nell, Nellie, Lea, Norie
I like Eleanor and I don't think it's too popular, but I don't really care that much about popularity.

I always liked Nora. It's sweet and simple like Ella, without being as juvenile as Ellie.
I don't think Eleanor is being overused. It's more common than it used to be, but it's no Sophia or Isabella.

I like Nell, personally.
I'm blown away that Eleanor is so popular in the US. I really like the name but it doesn't seem mainstream because it's so severe... sort of proudly unpretty. But Abigail seems the same way. Ah, what people will do for Abbie and Ellie.
Anyway, I prefer Eleanor in full but just thought of the nickname Elna, which is just so ugly it's almost charming. Nellna is even worse.

I always thought that the only reason Abigail is so common is because of the nickname Abby. I've never known one who went by her full name and I have known so many.
I know two little Abigails that are called just Abigail. I agree, Abby is much better! Not that I dislike Abigail, it's just certainly not something I'd want to use in its entirety.
I think Nellna might work better Nelna if you like that kind of name.

I've known a few Eleanor people, none of whom ever went by a nn. I prefer Nora(h) as a name in its own right, but it could still work as a nn for Eleanor if you're desperate to have one.
Some of these spellings might work better for Elanor, Elenor, etc.
