Lourdes and Fátima (Marian names)
Replies
Love them, and I am the same as Wordsmith below -- "I loooove Marian names, and I'm unequivocally not religious. I love them for their cultic, talismanic mysticism."
To his list (all of which I adore), I will also put myself down as loving Remedios (love the painter!), Socorro, Soledad, Mercedes, Nieves, and Annunziata. Those first three are just so dreamy. There's something I particularly love about word names that reference concepts and stories.
The figure of Mary for me goes far beyond any dogmatic presentation of her by any branch of Christianity. Her story has cosmic significance that can be applied to anyone, man or woman... it's a story of life.
I love the names of those priests that include a form of Mary:

Sancta Nomina is so much fun for me to read, despite disagreeing strongly with the author on most social political issues. I love her readiness to suggest interesting historical names. The Catholic tendency to use the names of saints makes for some delight for name lovers...

Consuelo is one of the most pleasant names to say, I think. It forms such nice shapes in my mouth.
And I so love Pilar and Consolata!
I would likely be in love with Dolores, if the double hit of Lolita and Umbridge didn't do it in for me. I so love the sound and the meaning (even if bittersweet -- such is life).

I do like a lot of Marian names, but these two aren't my favourites.
Fatima - starts with fat
Lourdes has an ugly sound, is very similar to the French word for heavy (I wouldn't worry about meanings in other languages usually, but it IS a French name after all) and I hate the false hope peddled at the place itself
