I adore Alice for all ages- it is adorable on little ones and grows up well. My teenage niece is named Alice and she is the sweetest, so of course I love it in relation to her, but I had it on my shortlist long before she was born (so I was thrilled to have a niece so well named!). It suits her perfectly. There is another Alice in my kids' school as well.

I LOVE the name Alice. It's gorgeous on a child and an adult. I have met a young Alice and I thought it was so sweet.

Alice is always such a pretty name. Never taught a bad one.

I should like it. It meets all my criteria, but the -iss ending just grosses me out. I don't like any names ending in that sound. In sound alone, I prefer Alison. It's not my style, but it's better than Alice. If I did have an Alice or if I were an Alice, I'd go by Allie.

It was my top choice for a daughter for a while, until a friend used it. Her daughter is the only young Alice I know personally, but it's been popular here for a while. I like Alys too.

I was at school with three young Alices, all cousins! One went by Alice; when one of the others discovered that she was not alone, she gave up being Alice and called herself Arline instead; and the third one used her middle name which, remarkably, is Marsephine. (In fact, they all had the same mn, no doubt for sound family reasons.)

It suited them just fine, I thought. There were more Alison people than Alice people around, back then, but it didn't matter at all.

I've only met two adult Alices. One was married to my mother's cousin, and seemed pleasant but I hardly ever saw them. The other was a receptionist/telephonist at a foreign embassy - a South African of Lebanese descent - and therefore had to be charming, and was.

I'd use Alice for a child without hesitation. In the absence of a suitable child, I used it for a cat with great success; she was known informally as Alice the Alley-Cat and was a very pretty animal.

What I really like about Alice is that it's a popular classic, but still has a good deal of whimsy, magic, a bit of quirkiness, eccentricity, and literary prowess because of Alice In Wonderland. For those reasons I find it makes a great middle for more unusual choices, whilst maintaining a good image without being too bland. I'd love to meet a little Alice (I've known a not so little one), although I wouldn't use it myself.

I love Alice. It's in my top 5, possibly even #1 (depends on how brave I'm feeling). It's a very popular name here, so I've met quite a lot of Alice's which puts me off a bit, but popularity isn't a huge deal for me to be honest. My surnames are unusual enough, there might even be a good idea to use something familiar as the FN.

I love 'Alice in Wonderland'. It made me love the name Alice too but the image I have of it changes constantly. Sometimes I think of the books and then I love it and sometimes I think of an Alice I knew and she wasn't pleasant at all. So I go back and forth on it.

At the moment I like it but it is getting kind of common. I dislike the potential nickname of Ally and I am a little bothered by the 'lice' thing even thought it isn't too dominant. I know a German Alice who would be around 30 now and lots and lots of Italian Alices (it must be extremely common there). I know an English Alice who is 15 but no American Alices at all.

I absolutely love Alice - so pretty, feminine and classic.

Alice Virginia is my favorite name for "if I had a daughter." And my significant other also thinks the combo is beautiful (he went to the University of Virginia, so he loves the VA nod). How I would love to have a little Alice. Every Alice I have known has had a strong and fabulous driven personality.

My grandmother is named Alice, her grandmother was named Alice, whose great-grandmother was named Alice, whose grandmother was named Alice -- and it just keeps going like that in my family skipping one or two generations until the 1500s.

Alice is so popular in England, I know Alices of all ages and I think it is beautiful at any age.

Um, my name is Alice, so I can't say much about it. I do know a 14 year old named Alice (myself), a 10 year old named Alice and a 3 year old named Alice.

Yes, I have, but she'd be about twelve or thirteen now, I think.
I think Alice is drab and frowzy trying to be cute and chah-ming. Ick.
