Atlas
What do you think of Atlas? I never really thought much of it until I found out a coworker's son is named this, and suddenly I really like it. Would it sound unbelievably cheesy with the surname Power?

Not great with any ln, but Power does make it even sillier than usual.

It's fine once I got used to it. It's pretty nice actually. At first I reacted to it like Athena, I thought it was over the top, but then discovered in real life both names work just fine.I don't think that it sounds unbelievably cheesy with Power. I think it's the kind of pun name that passes for not taking itself too seriously. Unbelievably cheesy would be to name your son Diesel or your daughter Penny. Atlas Power doesn't sound like a phrase, it just sounds like two words with a similarly comic-book-hero-but-not vibe. Like, I would think that a guy named Atlas Power wasn't named as a joke to get attention, he was named a name his parents wanted and it turned out sounding a little silly but memorable. It could even be kind of cool. It's only unusable if you feel like it's cheesy, yourself.

I know two little boys called Atlas, and it wears well. Atlas Power might not be too much - there's so many unusual names out there - but it does exude machismo, and it does sound like an educational geography game to me.

Atlas Power sounds like the name of a superhero. I sort of like Atlas, but it just makes me think of a book of maps.

yes, it would ...Like a power tool company or an illegal steroid supplement.
It's dumb anyhow, but I can't think of a worse last name to go with it unless it's Mapp.

It's getting really trendy. Miriam goes to daycare with at least two. And yes, Atlas Power would be a bit much. :-/

Atlas is a wonderful name, but a little bit WWF with Power...

Atlas is actually on our shortlist for a boy this go round. I really like it. I love the Greek Mythology names. Eros is another love of mine. However, Atlas with Power is uber cheeseball.

Not my style, but it's fine, and I believe that it is increasing in popularity.

I like Atlas, though it's certainly not my favorite male name from Greek mythology (that would have to be Icarus or Ganymede or Hyacinth(us) or Corydon or Daphnis). Atlas Power sounds like a geeky porn star, which I don't find totally unappealing.......
