Odysseus
I just watched a Buzzfeed video and a dad pronounced his sons name, Odysseus, as Oh-dih-say-uss. Is this dude way off or is this a recognized pronunciation? I was always under the impression it was Oh-diss-ee-us.

Ugh.
Odysseus is one of those Greek names that only works if you're of Greek heritage.

I saw the same video! Yes, he pronounced it like Oh-dee-say-ess and I found it extremely odd. I don't think it's a legitimate pronunciation but I'm no expert either.
And his nn was Odie
I honestly thought maybe they named him Odysseus so they could nickname him Odie because they seemed hipster-y. They also had an Ajax and then another son with a name that wasn't mythical.

I've only ever heard it as "o-DISS-ee-us," the same as you. Good to see the name being used. But yeah, that's an odd pronunciation. Maybe it's more authentically Greek than "o-DISS-ee-us." Would love to read what others think.
Side note: I much prefer Ulysses.

Wow, I have always pronounced it the same way as the rest of you, but upon reading this, I called my Greek friend, and she pronounced it the same way that you described the guy from the video pronouncing it. I tried to find references online that corroborated her but to no avail. The only extra support I could find was that if you translate Odysseus to Greek on google translate, it pronounces it the same way as the guy from the Buzzfeed video.
