Elizabeth
I was watching my favorite Elizabeth I miniseries and I began to warm back up to Elizabeth. I've been off of it for years because I'm always made to believe it's popular, but I don't know any Elizabeths, even as a middle name.
Do you know any baby Elizabeths that go by it and not a nickname? If they go by a nickname, which one?
What do you think of:
Alice Elizabeth
Elizabeth Caroline
Imogen Elizabeth
Elizabeth Margot
Ophelia Elizabeth

I think Elizabeth is pretty, but I have a cousin by that name, so I wouldn't use it myself. Plus, I'm not crazy about "Liz" as a nickname, and that's what almost every Elizabeth I have ever known has gone by. That I can recall, there is my cousin "Liz" (24 yo), two from my girl scout troop growing up (both approx. 30), a friend from an extended friend group (early 60s). I do know two administrators that go by Beth, one from her middle name, Elizabeth, and one from her first, although I don't know if she's just Beth or not. They are 40s-50s. I used to quite like Beth, but not so much anymore.
Alice Elizabeth - the exact name of the one who uses her middle for Beth
Elizabeth Caroline - too...something. They're both long and too classic(?) together.
Imogen Elizabeth - reminds me too much of Emily Elizabeth, owner of Clifford the big, red dog.
Elizabeth Margot - I really like this one!
Ophelia Elizabeth - I like the way it looks okay, but something is still off.

Never really liked Elizabeth, it's a prissy-sounding mouthful that in spite of its length still seems no more interesting or to have any more personality than Sarah or Mary.
I know of a little Elizabeth who's about three or four. Last I heard she was just called Elizabeth. There were two Elizabeths in my graduating class, one who went by Beth and one who was just Elizabeth. I remember one from elementary school but she went by her middle name which was Jennifer or Jenny, I forget which.
And I've known several Beths and Bettys and Lizzes. I do like Liz, it seems cheerful and down to earth. Beth is okay but not fond of the th ending.
Margot is very pretty and I wouldn't mind Margot Elizabeth; it seems a shame to relegate Margot to the middle. The other combos I don't like because I don't like the first names, and they also sound like an even bigger mouthful than just Elizabeth. Alice Elizabeth is an especially spitty mouthful.

Imogen Elizabeth is stunning.
It's a perennial classic, and I have always liked it.
One problem I have with the name is that I do not really like Alice and Elizabeth as sisters because their first two syllables are similar in their sounds, and it clashes a bit (Alice is my No. 1 favorite).
Some Elizabeth combinations I love:
Elizabeth Anna
Josephine Elizabeth
Elizabeth Joanna
Theodora Elizabeth
Elizabeth Susannah
Anne Elizabeth
Elizabeth Sophia
Magdalene Elizabeth
Elizabeth Georgina
Caroline Elizabeth
Elizabeth Eva

I'm shocked you have gone through life avoiding Elizabeths. I went to school with lots of them, and have encountered plenty elsewhere. Most go by Liz, I've known Beths and Betsys and an Ellie too. A friend has a baby Elizabeth they call Lizzy, and I know a preschool age "Beth". If we'd had another daughter I would've considered Elizabeth "Beth" too, or I should say I would do it if I hadn't decided Beth was too close to our son's nickname and our daughter's nickname is another Little Women character, which we are not collecting. :)
I prefer Imogen Elizabeth of those combos. I think it feels the freshest and most unexpected. Elizabeth is such a staple.

I mean I don't know any Elizabeth's that go by Elizabeth and not some nickname.
I don't know an Elizabeth of any age who doesn't go by a nn. That's why I used it as a mn.
I like Alice Elizabeth very much; Imogen Elizabeth is also really stylish. I'd prefer Caroline Elizabeth to Elizabeth Caroline, because Caroline is more likely to stay in one piece and not get chopped up into nns.
I don't like Elizabeth Margot and Ophelia Elizabeth at all.

I know a little Elizabeth, I think she is about a year old now. She has a sister named Catherine. They go by Elizabeth and Catie.
I know lots and lots and lots who are all 20+ years old. Almost all of the ones aged 20-40 go by Lizzie exclusively. A few go by Ellie. I also know one who goes by Libby.
Of the ones who are 40+ many go by Beth or Liz. I also know one who goes by Betty.
The little one year old is the only one who goes by her full name. I think you don't hear the full name very much and the reason why it stayed common for so long is because the nicknames went in and out of style and the full name stayed a classic without sounding dated.
Personally I think it is starting to sound a bit tired, kind of like Katherine. I also think that like Katherine and Mary which were common for ages it will soon fall.
Ohhh and I wouldn't use it as a middle name, it is one of the most common middle names ever together with Rose, Anne and Marie. I know so many! I know two Ava Elizabeths who were born recently, and many many more. It is THE filler middle name of the 80s and 90s, in my opinion, and still being used a lot.
Alice Elizabeth - Alice needs a more interesting middle name. It doesn't flow well because of the -li sounds that are repeated in the combo and sound very similar.
Ophelia Elizabeth - this works because Ophelia is uncommon and it flows. But it is still overused in the middle in general.

Oh, now I remember why I didn't want to use it as a first name...the dreaded Liz nickname. Everyone I have known has been snooty.
I don't know any babies named Elizabeth. The youngest Elizabeths I know are both around 12 years old - one goes by Ellie and the other goes by her full name.
Elizabeth Margot is lovely.
