Tessa or Tirzah?
I really, really love Tessa, and I feel like it goes better with our other two kids (Hattie and Meyer). It's been favorite since I was a child. BUT... it's been in the 200s for years, and that's just a little more popular than I like. That being said, I have only ever met 3 in real life... none of which are children. That could very well change, once I have one of my own. Seems to be the case with Hattie and Meyer. LOL. :-pTirzah, a name I also love and have since I was a teen. But I like it pronounced TEER-sah with an "s" sound instead of a "z." Would you spell it differently? Tirsah? Tiersah? Tirsa? Tiersa? Do those look too contrived?Does Tirzah (et al) sound okay with Hattie and Meyer? Or do you like Tessa better with our names, despite it being more popular than we like?Thank you SO much for your opinions!!!

Tessa, definitely Tessa. If you've always loved it, then don't let popularity put you off. It's not that popular anyway! It also fits much better with your other kids names, without doubt.

I much prefer Tessa. I don't remember ever meeting a Tessa. I know that some girls and women named Teresa go by Tessa too, but I have met people called Teresa, a few times. They went by Teresa or Terri. I am in England, so my experience will reflect that.

I think Tirzah sound much better with Hattie and Meyer than Tessa does. I would use Tirsah. It maintains the look of Tirzah while matching your pronunciation of choice.

Tessa is ranked #229, which isn't really that popular. If it was one of the top 20 or even the top 100, I can understand being put off by the popularity but it isn't ridiculously popular. If Tessa is your favorite name, then go for it.Tirzah is usually pronounced TIR-zə, so most people are not going to guess that it's TEER-sah unless you correct them incessantly. Tessa goes a lot better with Hattie and Myer. Tirzah is more Old Testament while your kids names sound more modern.

Hi !!!I rate Tessa 9/10.
Tirzah instead is 4/10.I really love Tessa.
It is short but evocative.
It goes perfectly with your children's names-Tirzah is quite bad.
It is complex and it is not clear.
It is too strange and difficult to spelling/pronounce.
In one word..too much imo.

Well, I love Tirzah and dislike Tessa (it comes across as try-hard to me; I'd prefer Tess), so I'm biased, but...I don't think Tirzah sounds bad with Hattie and Meyer. I prefer it spelled Tirzah, though I've seen it spelled Tirsa before and like that as well.

With Tirzah, I would just let the original spelling be and make a point of pronouncing it TEER-sah and not TEER-ze.I personally love both names as well! Tessa does sound better with Hattie & Meyer, but I don't think Tirzah sounds particularly bad with the set. I've personally never known a Tessa, but I have known one Tess. I'm 17 & have an 11 year old sister and I regularly look through her yearbooks and have never seen one there, either.I think with Tessa & Tirzah you can't go wrong, so I'd personally just choose whichever one you & your SO like best, popularity aside!
