Selma & Sasha (f)
I really don't know what to think of these names! What are your opinions? Know any? And anything else you want to add!

Selma feels very old-ladyish to me, like Thelma and Velma and Alma and Wilma.
Sasha is cute. There's sasha Obama, but her actual name is Natasha; I assume that Sasha is her or her sister's baby pronunciation of Natasha.
We used to have a cat named Sasha, a beautiful and evil-tempered cat we had to give to friends because of her wild ways. (They had a farm at the time and she was able to live the life of a mighty hunter instead of a housecat.) Truthfully, Sasha has always seemed like a cat's name better than a person's name.

Friends of mine shared a flat while we were students, and were at one time adopted by a handsome Russian Blue cat who would gobble their scanty leftovers and then wander off. They loved him dearly and he became known as Sasha "because he's Sacha nice cat"! Yeah, definitely feline.
And, definitely not female. If Alexander, nn Sasha, Zverev continues to light up the tennis circuit, perhaps we'll see some more boy Sashas for a change, but I'm afraid that -a ending is just too powerful as a female marker. Pity.
Totally with you on Selma! Though I do find that Thelma retains some vintage charm.

Selma reminds me of the Simpsons character (not a good association). I also think of the name Thelma (which I find ugly). Selma is strange.
Sasha is ok, it's been in my Top 10 before. I find it to be a lively and adventurous name. A good nickname for Alexandra. However, I think I prefer it on a boy.
I haven't known anyone of either name.
