Ruth
I really like Ruth and keep thinking about it in the mn spot, but I actually really like it as a first name too. The only thing that puts me off is that it's so short compared to my daughter's name (Patience). Thoughts on Ruth?

I love Ruth but I totally agree with you on the first name thing, I think its better as a mn
I love Ruth too, both as a fn and mn. I don't consider two syllables excessively long! And if you take Ruth as the opposite of ruthless, then there's a thematic link with virtue names like Patience that hardly shows but is still pleasing.
A friend's daughter uses her full name - Ruth Mary - for professional purposes. I don't like the rhythm much, but a double name like Ruth Marie or Ruth Elaine might be nice and could be used on occasion.

I have a teacher with a two year old daughter named Ruth (her brothers name is Anton). I really like it, I think it sounds really refreshing on a young girl. I think Patience & Ruth actually sounds very sweet together!
I think Ruth is ugly. It sounds like a dog barking, and a sibset of Patience and Ruth sounds like a pair of sisters who would go around calling out witches in Salem in 1692.
