There was a small child (probably around 5-6 now?) who came to the bakery named Colleen. Except the owner of the bakery always called her KO-leen (rather than Kahl-een?) so it was sort of strange. She later had a brother named Brayden, which felt mismatched. I think their mom had a third but I don't remember its name (if I ever learned it).

I liked it when I was a child, but I find it sort of dated now. Not sure to when. 60s?

I liked it when I was a kid because of the character on Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. It still vaguely reminds me of pioneers because of that, but mostly these days, it reminds me of words like: collie, collard greens, cholera...which aren't really inspiring associations. It's okay, but I'd prefer other leen/lene/line names.

It bugs me because it's "faux Irish", by which I mean it was used by Americans who thought that they were somehow honoring their Irish heritage, completely missing the fact that Colleen is not used as a name in Ireland itself. Like they couldn't be bothered to find an authentic Irish name.

I don't know, other than that, it's okay. Not a big favorite, but I don't hate the sound of it.

I love Colleen. It does bug me slightly that it's the literal Irish word for girl and almost unheard of as a name in Ireland but meh, it's been in use long enough that that's not a huge deal. It's sweet, big eyed and freckled and curly haired, sort of girl next door but also adventurous and daring.

I do prefer Kathleen/Cathleen, which give me a similar feel.
