Chloris, on the other hand, has a respectable pedigree, a good meaning and, thanks to Chloe, is easy to pronounce. So there's no need to dumb down the spelling.

I prefer Chloris.

I think it's beautiful but I much prefer it spelt Chloris

I actually think Chloris is more usable. Because I find the "clitoris" association more awkward than the "chlorine" one. Chloris recalls Chloe a little bit - more than Cloris recalls Clara or even Clover, for me.

It's usable if you think having a name that sounds like bleach is all right. Me, I hate the smell of Clorox, and the name just carries the smell with it, Leachman notwithstanding.
In fact, Cloris Leachman's got one of the ugliest first and last name combos out there.

In the 1990's there was a cartoon called Captain Planet and the Planeteers, with an ecology theme. One of the villains was someone named Chlorine Bleachman.

It seems like a hybrid of Chlorine and Doris. It's also super weird to say.

Looking at it, I immediately thought that it was like a contracted form of the word clitoris. I can't unsee that, so this name is a no-no for me personally. :s

Way too close to clitoris. And as a lot of people seem to have an issue with Clio being too close, I'm guessing Cloris is worse. I can't say I'm a fan of the sound either.

I recently read somewhere it's one of the least usable names. They didn't say why.

Probably because it has an old lady vibe, which doesn't bother me. That being said, it sounds too much like Clorox for me to consider using it.

I like it. It is unusual, but not unusable.
