Re: Margaret

I like Margaret, I do. It's just sometimes it sounds so, well, like someone like this nun from Sister Act: (Not that I don't love Sister Mary Lazarus but she's just a Margaret. She just has the Margaretness.)
In other words, it can feel severe and dowdy, and like heavy and guilt-ridden and Catholic in a stereotypical way.
But sometimes Margaret can sound so pretty. It really depends on who's saying it and my mood. I do like it. I like it best in the middle, where it for some reason sounds gentler and prettier.
For nicknames, I love Maggie most. I think Maggie's adorable. I also like Meg, Greta, and Margot (though I prefer this on its own). I don't really like Margery or Majorie.
