Patrick would be my choice. I really dislike Matthew, and it's so common. I like Andrew well enough, but not the nickname Andy, however, it too is very common. Patrick is handsome and not as common as the other two.

I like all of these and would like to see any of them on a baby boy today, but my favorite is Patrick. We were set on it for our oldest son, but he turned out to be a Benjamin instead. :) I considered Andrew for our youngest but it doesn't sound very great with our last name.

Throw Matthew off the list. Now. It's awful, and it's like Sarah: the baby's born, the parents have had nine months or more to think up names, but at the end they still can't decide, and the baby "doesn't look like" any of the names they have considered, so they stick Sarah on a girl or Matthew on a boy. Ugh.

Andrew and Patrick are great names. Both have good nns, but not automatic ones or ones that are especially common on young ones with those names.

My favourite is Andrew and I like the nn Drew.

Andrew was overused, is fading and was always bland and boring. Same for Matthew, with extra, supersized boring. Luckily, Patrick is cheerful, energetic, familiar without being trite, and Pat is a perfectly acceptable nn. Look no further!

I don't think I could answer unless I knew what the girl's name is going to be.

I'd use Patrick, because I like the sound of *ick endings more than *ew endings, plus it's less common where I live.

Andrew's my favorite boy name and Matthew's my second favorite.
Do you like Pat, Matt, and Andy? Or would you call him by his first name instead of a nickname?
