Leila
What do you think of Leila?Do you think it works with the pronunciation of LY-la? It is the way it would get pronounced here in Austria and I am wondering whether that pronunciation works in English speaking countries, Italy, Spain, Sweden or whereever else you are from :) How would it be pronounced where you live?

No, Leila is lay- la. If you want ly-la, then use Lyla or Lila. Both names and their respective pronunciations are nice.

Leila has three English standard pronunciation according to this site. Where I come from Lila will always get pronounced LEE-la :(

The Leila I know in the PNW pronounces her name LY-la. She'd also get LAY-la, but I don't think it's too big of a deal.

I am from the US and would pronounce it Lay-la! Why not Lila?

It has something to do with the German pronunciation. I am French/Austrian. Lila in German would be said like LEE-la and it is a color (purple), a word. I love the look of Leila, the ei is really appealing to me.

Phonetically speaking, it cannot be pronounced like Lyla. Its pronounced like Layla.
If you wan't the pronunciation of Lyla but not that spelling, people spell it Lila or Lilah.

I just noticed that it says on this site that LY-la is one of Leila's three English pronunciations. It is also a standard pronunciation in German speaking countries. If it can't be pronounced LY-la in English I am wondering why this pronunciation would appear on this site. Do you have an idea? Confusing :P

LiaMaria seems to have very strong ideas, heh. Leila can definitely be LY-la -- and is, for many people.

I do. Sorry, the spelling is really confusing in the United States for someone who wants it pronounced like Lyla. I have never heard it pronounced Lyla here.

I like it! I have an internet friend named this, so it has a good association for me.
I usually pronounce it LAY-la, but I guess it could work as LY-la. *shrug*
