Alice
I think about this name every once in a while. I love the 'Alice in Wonderland' connection. But I have some bad real life associations with it, unfortunately. I like it pronounced the French way but I like the English pronunciation too.

If you like it pronounced the French way and have bad associations with the spelling of "Alice" then why not Elise? I love Alice pronounced the English way, I like it pronounced the French way.
Alice and Elise are not pronounced the same in French :) But I like Elise too :)
I love Alice, pronounced the English way. I would pull the trigger and use it as a first name but really hate the fact that it can be nicknames into Ally, Lissa, etc. They are such vapid nicknames and trendy and overused. People say, "well, tell people she goes by Alice and Alice only." Yah, I cannot control the world. What if she wants to be called Ally as she grows up? I'm not going to tell her she can't so I just steer clear of it as a first name.
I love it and would gladly use it. I don't think I've ever met one, except for a very elderly aunt whom I hardly ever saw. I had a cat named Alice once (Alice the Alley-cat) who was dazzlingly beautiful.
I've had mixed experiences with Alison people, among whom I include all the Allisons, and I never met an Alicia that I liked at all.

I really love Alice.
It's grown on me a lot and while I'm not a fan of 'Alice in Wonderland' [I love Disney, but Wonderland is just a little too weird for me], I do have some positive associations with it in real life. I've met two adult Alices both very different but very lovely all the same. And a child Alice who would probably be in her pre-teens about now.
Alice is floating up and down my top ten depending on my mood, though my SO isn't keen so it'll probably never make it onto a real life child of mine.
