Re: Kitty
I usually hate far fetched nicknames but this one works for me as Kitty is a very traditional, well established nickname for Katherine. If I wanted to use Kitty as a nickname, I would definitely go with the K spelling for Katherine and not with Catherine. Katherine nn Kitty doesn't make much sense phonetically, I guess it was invented at a time when half of your relatives were named Katherine and the other half Mary so you had to come up with some creative short forms :P So yes, it works for me, but only because it has a long history as a nickname for Katherine. It is a million times better than the boring Kate and the super bland Katie. I would say that it's kind of cute. I know a young Kitty, it's her full name. She was named after her dad's nanny. I am also kind of starting to like Kathy again. After all those Kates and Katies from the 70s, 80s and 90s Kathy and Kitty seem much fresher.
