I think Marjorie is cuter. Margery sounds like a place where you'd store your margarine. Like an old-fashioned buttery, but for fake butter.
Marjorie seems to still be used today, though it's not been popular in many decades. I think the Marge sound is a big factor in its unpopularity. Margaret is much more popular and always has been.
