I think that is perfectly acceptable. They are different enough it won't feel the same unless they share a nn.
My sister's name is Nicole and one of our younger male cousins got named Nicolas. Only minor confusion has ever resulted from this mostly since they both share the nn's Nick and Nicky spelled the same way. I usually call my cousin Nick and my sister Nicole or Nicky.
