Susan
Is Susan ready for a comeback? I think it's really cute with the nickname Susie and it has a nice meaning.

I've known many, many women and girls with this name (both older than me and younger than me) so it does seem dated and just not very special to me at the moment. OTOH, Susanna or Suzanne would feel fresher at this point. Having said that, I feel if you love Susan enough, then use it. Oh, and I agree that Susie is darling.

I really like Susan nn Susie.Susan reminds me of the flowers of the same name. The name Susan is uncomplicated in appearance. Susan has a laid-back kindness and warmth to it, balanced out with cool-headed intelligence. It feels like the name your favorite teacher/ professor would have.I know it's an odd association but Susie reminds me of the band Siouxsie and the Banshees which was a band I grew up listening to when I was little because of my parents. I have always enjoyed listening to the same music as my parents.Susan doesn't feel dated to me but that is probably because I do not know any Susan's. I do know many older Suzanne's so that name does feel dated but not Susan.

Yes, I think so! Susan is a recent name love of mine and the dimutive of "susie" is ADORABLE! However, I have a feeling that Susan will end up leaving the 2016 charts. Either that or keep decreasing. It will probably be a while before Susan makes a dramatic comeback. The only downside to the name for me is the "Sue" sound. Sue is just so...unnapealing. I really like the combination of Lydia Susan (A name I would highly consider using for a daughter with Lydia set in stone) but then again, the "Sue" part would probably tear myself away from using it. \: oh well

Lydia and Susan match each other very well. I picture the same sort of person for both in personality. Although in appearance Lydia is a brunette and Susan is light haired -which includes shades of lighter brown or red, not just blonde.I don't feel that a Susan will ever automatically become Sue. Even if it did Susan in the middle especially won't become Sue. So I feel you can use Lydia Susan without fear.

I think it is. Who cares if it's "dated?" It's a dignified name that is easy to spell and pronounce.

I know a 12-year-old Susan, I always feel weird calling her Susan. It's far too dated for me. Probably because I have three aunts named Susan. Susie is cute though.

I don't know if it's ready for a comeback exactly, as there are still a lot of mothers and grannies around with it, but it's a neat & inoffensive name that wouldn't seem too awkward on a child.

It's my mum's middle name, and she hates it. I like it though, but prefer Susanna / Susannah. I agree Susie is really cute.

I think it could. I personally prefer Susannah because it has family significance and the nickname Zuzu because I really love Its a Wonderful Life.

It's not ready for a comeback yet. It hasn't quite dropped out of the top thousand. It will need to spend quite a bit of time out of the top thousand before it's ready for a comeback. And all of the women who were given the name Susan from 1935 to 1985 will need to have gone to The Great Beyond. And then some names never come back, so there's no way of knowing for sure that it ever will. It's a dated name that I like and can see the appeal of. If you like it enough to use, then I'd say go for it and don't worry about its being out of style.
