I prefer the spelling Eleanora which looks softer to me. I do really like it though, as its sophisticated yet can be shortened for ease to Nora, Nola, Nell, Ellie, Ella, Elle, Lea, etc.

I love it! I prefer Leonora, though.

I love Eleonora. It's classic, elegant and sophisticated. I also like Eleanor and Leonor. I wouldn't use Eleonora for my children. The reason for this is that the only nickname I like for it is Eli. I think it's a really cute and nice nickname but I love Eliana for a girl and prefer it over Eleonora. So if I already had an Eliana who would get called Eli I wouldn't use Eleonora anymore. It would be different if I were crazy about Nora, then I would have an Eliana sometimes called Eli and an Eleonora sometimes called Nora, I think I could live with that. But I am not crazy about Nora so the chances I will use Eleonora are pretty slim. It would also be different if I decided to always call her by her full name but Eleonora is just too long for that. For some reason I don't have that problem with Anastasia, I think it rolls off the tongue a bit easier than Eleonora, mainly because the Eleo-part is more difficult to say. I guess that Eleonora is much more of a classic than Eliana in Italy because you told me Eliana is dated there. But I don't feel this because I didn't grow up in Italy so for me they are both uncommon and nice.

Flavio for a boy sounds nice and Angelica or Serena for a girl.
