Caroline

Growing up and living in the South I've known a lot of Carolines, including my own sister. I consider it pretty common, though not in a trendy way and not too common to use. It's a beautiful name.
I prefer no NN. My sister has always gone by just Caroline, though within our family we sometimes call her Lina (pronounced LIE-nah). Her name is mispronounced as Carolyn quite a bit, and it's a pet peeve of hers.

It's ok. Not one of my favorites, but I don't hate it either. It just makes me think too much of the states.
Caroline (NOT Carolyn) is one of my favorites. I don't hear it too often, but it seems like one of those classic, timeless names. It fits a little girl easily, but seeing as it's a name from "Little House on the Prairie," it suits a grown woman as well. Can you picture a 2 year old named Ethel? What about an 87 year old named Neveah?

Pretty much yes to both. Some names come back, so some 2-year-olds are the first to be given coming-back-into-style names, and the babies who today are being given trendy/popular names will someday be 87 (some of them at least, those who live that long).
Caroline is one of my favourite names, it's very musical.
It's okay, but I feel like it's overrated. It has a gloomy, downbeat feel to it, probably due to the Line ending. I would rather use Carolina, Carolyn or just Carrie by itself.
I have never known anyone named Caroline. So I was tempted to do what people sometimes do under those circumstances and say, "No, it's not too common because I've never known one." But I resist the temptation. All one can do to answer the question is to look at the popularity statistics. It's number 62 in the US and has generally been rising. So based upon that I'd say not too popular at the moment, but could become so.
I really like Caroline and I'm with you in that I prefer it without a nickname. Especially not Carrie, which is so 70s dated and annoying anyway.

If I remember correctly, it made the top 15 in a few states. I think it is one of those names that is really common in a few states and really uncommon in others!
I love it. It's not at all popular in the UK at the moment. It's my mother's name and she doesn't shorten it in any way.
I absolutely love Caroline and I'd certainly use it, even if it were as common here as it is in the US. It's my mother's name, and she occasionally goes by Caro, which I also like. But mostly not...I agree with you that it doesn't need a nickname
I like it! No, it's not too common (at least, not in the States lol), and I love the nickname Carrie!
Hi !!!
I'm sorry but Carolina seems too much a cow name.
Caroline with -line is awful for me because I dislike i sound in English.
Caroline as in French would be nice!! It is the name of a Monegasque Princess! XD
But I would not choose it anyway.
I prefer Carrie.
I like this name and I think it works well as full name too.
Yes..I'm a fan of Stephen King's book.

Not common at all where I live. I used it happily for my first daughter and never shortened it at all.
