Mark
WDYT?
I've met someone named Mark (who is around the same age or slightly older than me) at a university interview.

Both dull and harsh; my friend says that calling Mark with a cold sounds like barking.
I quite like the name but I know way too many of them

I kinda like the name Mark, but it is sort of dated and stodgy now. It seems to belong with all the New Testament boy names that were popular (Mark, Matthew, Paul, Andrew, Peter, John, James, Timothy, Jason, Steven ... etc) for my generation.
I like Marc more, for Marcus.
There were boys named Mark and Marc on my street when I was growing up. At the time I liked the name Mark better, I guess because I met Mark first. But now Marc makes me think of Roman Marcus. So it's more my style, as well as more current seeming.
