Jonah really wasn't much of a role model as prophets go! As a non-religious person who has used Peter, David, Mary, Elizabeth and Anne on my own children, I'd say it is fine to use names that appear in the Bible as long as they are widely accepted and have been in use in a secular context for several centuries. But Jonah ... it gives an impression of fundamentalism rather than merely belonging to a culture where (the more popular) biblical names are frequent.
