Ottessa
Has anyone heard of this name?I'm reading a novel where this is the author's name, and in a few articles, they've talked about her Croatian heritage, so maybe it's Croatian? I can't find any information about it online, though.I really like it as an Odette/Odessa alternative, with the option of Tess as a nn, so I would appreciate any advice/opinions.

It’s definitely not Croatian, we don’t use double letters and it’s also not similar to any Croatian name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottessa_Moshfegh - say here her mother was born in Croatia and her father was born in Iran. So perhaps an Iranian link or maybe her parents made it up.

It doesn't sound Croatian to me. Sounds more like a variant of Odessa. I like Odette, and Tessa is a cute nn, but Ottessa sounds like "Oh, Tessa!" to me.

So far neither heard nor ever seen, reminds me of Ottilia or Ottavia or other names with the prefix Ott-.Personally, I do not like it very well, then rather Odessa.P.S.: Ever heard of Bottilla? Would be almost fit to: Ottessa & Bottilla, (-:
