It's one of my favorite names. My association with Streep and her age is broken because of Meryl Davis, who is young, entirely the "wrong" age to be a Meryl. It's an awesome name because it's not Mary and it's not Merrill and it's not Merel and it's not Muriel, but it shares a little something with all of them. And even has some antique glam and gemminess from Beryl, and some earthiness from Cheryl. I think it'd be a great name for a little girl to have right about now.

Usable, but not overly attractive. I have known a few and never thought it particularly pretty. That said, it is a refreshing choice and I think it adorable on a baby. This is one of those that comes down to personal preferences I suppose.

I hate it. I think it's so ugly. I feel sorry for Meryl Streep that she has this name. Her name is really Mary Louise. I assume that Meryl, in her case, is some kind of mash-up of Mary and Louise, but I was unable to find any verification of that. Of course, she could have changed it, so I guess she doesn't mind it. But I think it's horrible. In the days of early Hollywood, I'm sure that the first thing wanna-be movie actress Meryl Streep would have been told is that she'd have to change her name, both first and last.

CorrectionI just remembered Merle Oberon, so I'm taking back that a Meryl would be told to change her first name. I still think Streep would have had to go.

I think it feels a bit dated? I couldn't imagine it on someone younger than 40. However, I suppose it could make an alternative for Mary, because even though it feels old-fashioned, it still has a nice ring to it.
