Many Asian languages have names meaning lotus too (such as Padma), but the English word Lotus is really unattractive.

I don't like it very much. It's not bad. The word just isn't that appealing. So it seems like, to like it enough to use it, you must really care a lot about lotus symbolism. There are associations with the word that are problematic, too - lotus-eaters, and the car.

I like it a lot, but mostly as a middle name.

Kind of. It sounds more interesting then Lily or Daisy for sure.

I love lotus flowers, but no, I don't really like it as a name. The sound reminds me too much of Otis.

(It wouldn't have been a favourite in any case. It sounds too like Locust to me and also the Lotos eaters. I'm sorry to say I really like Waterlily though...!)
