Luna
I have really started to like the name Luna. Associations and opinions?

I absolutely love Luna! Of course, my first thought is Luna Lovegood, as she made me love the name years ago in the first place. The "moon" meaning and the goddess make it all the more beautiful.
The only reason it's not higher on my list is its popularity. Also, it sounds like lunatic and loony (like Luna was called Loony in HP). I'd still consider using it if not for its popularity though.

I really like the sound of it - it's short, sweet and feminine.
I don't have the Harry Potter association (never read the books), I think of the moon. However, I don't like how it's then related to "lunatic". That's the only negative I can think of.

Despite knowing the origin, my primary association is that it sounds/looks like a portmanteau of Lucy and Edna. I'm fond of Lucy but not so much of Edna...so the lu- makes it seem sweet and bright, while the -na seems alternately frumpy and quirky.
I also associate it with the moon goddess and Luna Lovegood.
I like it in some combos (for example, Luna Simone, John Legend's daughter), but overall, I want to like it more than I actually do.

Split about 60/40 between associations of the character Luna Lovegood and the moon Goddess. Both of these are positive associations and I really like the name. It's hovered in and out of my Top Ten and been on my long list for years. It's also one of the only names my partner and I both like!
It sounds like a goofy, flaky, airheaded person, to be honest, or a weird, crunchy-granola line of feminine-hygiene products.
I think it's a sweet name! I used to only prefer it on dogs and cats, but I'm starting to like it, too.
