Alison.The extra 'l' looks added for the sake of it and silly. And for some reason makes it look like a surname, though I'm pretty sure that I'm being influenced by Allinson's which is a bread making company...http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/167578

No, you're right. Allison is a surname. Although I couldn't swear, of course, that there is nobody out there with the surname Alison with one L, I'm sure the surname is far more commonly spelled with two Ls.
