Thoughts on Marie?
Marie is a very popular middle name, but I'm wondering what people think of it as a first name... Opinions?

I think it would be pretty as a first name as it's overused as a middle name

Happens every day where I live, usually as a nn for Maria and always pronounced MAHree. So, dated and dull.

Love it as a first. Far more than I like it as a second. I experienced some name-regret when I had Nadine. I had been debating calling her Marie, and I was pretty upset I didn't for about two weeks after she was born. She just seemed like a sweet little Marie. And that is what Marie is to me... sweet. Just a fresh, sweet choice on a kid. Eventually I got over the name regret. Her middle Marikit helped a lot, pronounced like marie, with "keet" on the end.
Still, I think Marie is just a great choice for a name. It is one of the few that makes me internally "awww" when I hear it. Just a smile-inducing choice. I totally recommend it.

It's okay but nothing special IMO.

Marie is pretty, classic, timeless, and ages well. The biggest drawback is its popularity, but if you have a super unusual last name, it might work.

It's lovely as a first name; refined and reserved. Just the antidote to modern tackiness. Some combos I enjoy where Marie takes the first name position:Marie Charlotte
Marie Ines
Marie Elisabeth
Marie Beatrix
Marie Josephine
Marie Eleonore
Marie Alix
Marie Louise
Marie Catherine
Marie Estelle
Marie Madeleine
Marie EloiseOther sibling names that I believe complement Marie: Eve, Irene, Anne, Ines, Clara; Simon, Louis, Jerome.
