Can't really go wrong with it. I like the nn Alex. Andie is cute too. I like Alexa on its own. Don't know about Fender.

Fender is great. :D
I think of Alexandra as a good name, although it's not one I'd use myself. It's got a very attractive sound in full, and I think it would be a comfortable name to have, but I'm not wild about any of the nns - although anything is better than Lexy. The Alexandra I know best uses Alix, which sounds exactly like Alex but looks less boyish on paper.

I really like Alexandra - she has hovered in the outer reaches of my top ten for a while. My favourite nickname is Lexa which is what I would use but I also like Lexa as a name in its own right - I'm conflicted about this.

Alexandra is beautiful, strong, dignified. I dislike all nicknames for it, though.

I used to prefer Alexandria when I was a kid but these days I prefer Alexandra.I love the sound of it but with how common Alexander and Alexandra were when I was a kid it does feel a bit bland / stale to me. Most of the Alexandra's and Alexander's I knew went by Alex. Though I also knew a few boy's who went by Sasha. For the girls I also knew one Ally, two Alexa's, one Sasha, one Lex, and one Lexi. I also knew of one or two girl's whose names were just Alexa but they were more in my younger sister's age group. I also got the impression that in my sister's age group that the nn Alex had fallen out of style and most Alexandra's were going by Lex or Lexi.My granduncle's son goes by Sandy which I think is a cute Alexander nn. But he's around 10 years younger than my parents and I think Sandy was probably a more common nn at the time. I have never actually met an Alexander who went by Xander before except in Buffy.Alex, Alexei, Allie, Andie, Sandie, and Xan are my favorite nn's for Alexandra. Alexa is also nice and so are Lex and Lexi. I hate the names / nn Alexis and Lexis. Alexa, Lex, and Lexi are just too trendy for my tastes. Also Alexa makes me think of the Amazon device. I prefer Sasha and Sandy as nn for a boy.

Alexandra is lovely. Alex is boring, Alexa is a bit of a 'princess' name to me. I wouldn't do a nickname :)

Agree:)

It's one of the few names I really hate. It is just so unattractive to my ears. I know it is a classic in the sense that it has been used for a long time but if you look at the statistics you will notice that it never made the top 500 before 1967 and only started getting common in the mid 80s. To me it is a classic name that is super 80s/early 90s dated kind of like Stephanie.I would be surprised to see it on a baby it has been falling quickly in the last couple of years and is now out of the top 100. It was popular for an unusually short time which makes me guess that people just used it as a less trendy variant to Alexis, to get nicknames such as Alex and Lexi. I've never met an Alexandra who went by her full name in an english speaking country.I really dislike Alex. Alexa is lovely and works well as a full name. I much prefer it over Alexandra. I would also much prefer Alexandria which I like and the Italian Alessandra, even Alexis. The problem with Alexandras sound to me is the closeness of the harsh letter X followed by -andra, an ending I don't really like. Alexandria breaks this up a bit and Alessandra is softened a bit by the S sound in the middle.Alexandra nn Andie doesn't make too much sense to me, people will always assume her full name to be Andrea. I mean I get that you get it out of the -andra part but to me it is like Aaron nn Ron or something, just not that intuitive. Fender is hilarious :P I would hate to be called that but it will be fun for everyone around her.

Fender was a typo. She meant to type Xander.

Ahhhh okay, I didn't see that. I think Xander is almost as bad on a girl as Fender :P

Yeah I don't care for Xander or Fender for a girl.I feel like it should be Xandera which I also don't care for. Sounds like the name of a female character from a Space Western or from a Post-Apocalyptic Western.

I once met a girl named Zandra. I don't really care for Zandra, Sandra or Alexandra :P I much prefer Alexandria, Alexa and Alessandra.

Alexandra has been one of my favorite names for as long as I can remember. It's way too popular for me now, but I still love it. It's elegant and long without being frilly or strange, and it has so many nn options that any girl could carve her own identity out of it. Alex is my favorite nn. I also like Alexa, Lexa, Lex (not Lexi), and Andie. Fender is really cool. I've known a few Alexandras who have gone by Alex, Lexi, Ali, and Ally. My sister once had a friend named Andi, I wonder if that was short for Alexandra. I also knew an Alejandra who went by Ale (AH-lay).

Alexandra is beautiful. It has a timeless queenly elegance to it. It is not among the top 100 most popular names, yet it is still familiar and everyone knows how to spell and pronounce it. I have only met two people with this name. One went by Alexandra, and the other girl occasionally asked to be called Allie. Personally, I think the nick name Alex is cute.

I had a neighbor for few years named Ally whose backyard was an alley. Lol little kid me at first thought they were spelled the same. Her full first name was Alexandra or maybe Alexandria. I always liked that name and nn combo as a kid. Ally was so nice and I was sad when she moved. I prefer spelling Ally as Allie.I also liked Sasha as nn for Alexander and Alexandra. I knew three boys called Sasha at my elementary school.

Alexandra as a full name is nice. It's actually kind of pretty. I say this even though I don't really like it. And I don't like any nicknames and I hate (hate!) Alex for a girl. If Alexandra wasn't almost always automatically shortened I would like it more but I think a nickname is inevitable. Alexa is so much better than Alex but people tend to get lazy and it's easy to just drop that last -a and then you're stuck with Alex anyway.

Its a bit plain. Yet still classic.

I love it but it's too popular. The only nickname I like is Zan. I particularly hate Alex for a girl.

I once knew a Polish woman named Ola. It took me a long time to realise Ola was the standard nickname for Aleksandra/ Alexandra in Poland!

I love Alexandra. It is such a strong and regal name to me. I would definitely consider using it but I'm not in love with any of the nicknames. I really kind of like Xan or Xani but I wonder how intuitive that would be or whether it would stick. Mostly I just love Alexandra in its full form. I could likely live with Alex, which seems sporty and friendly, but I hate Lexi and I'd be so scared of that.

Regarding Xan or Xani being intuitive or sticking:My SO's daughter was named Alexandria. Close enough to Alexandra. She's not the daughter I've mentioned several times whose name is Kenyatta but she's called Keisha. Alexandria was his older daughter and I questioned, with good reason, whether or not she was his daughter at all. Long story lol. Now I guess we'll never know as she died tragically young a few years ago. I bring this up in case anyone thinks there's a discrepancy from what I've previously said about his younger daughter.ANYWAY, she was always called Zan, pronounced the same as Xan. I think it's perfectly intuitive and she's proof it sticks.

Love it! Classy but not flashy. My son is Alexander but would have possibly used Alexandra for a girl. Alex is a nice nickname. Not so keen on Alexa for some reason.

edited to correct to XanderNot fender

Yeah when I saw Fender I was like, hmmm that is odd how in the world would you get Fender from Alexandra? Lol. If I wasn't starting to get tired I probably would have figured it out on my own.
