I don't mind it =) The problem I find with it is pronunciation. I used to look after a Katyah and a lot of the staff, maybe because of the "h", used to pronounce it "kart-y-AH" rather than "KAH-tyah". Here in Australia, I can imagine many would try to make Katia similar to Katie, so "KATE-y-ah" might be the result. I think Katya is the safest pronunciation-wise =)
I really like this name, it's a nice pronounciation, I have used it for character's it is a good name for that. I prefer Katya to Katia.
