I don't think so. I think a name that has an upsurge in popularity because it's related to a celebrity still has to be a name with contemporary appeal. Angelina is a good example, with its relatively recent spike in popularity. This is the mean part of me talking, but I also envision Trump supporters to be more of the Makayla, Hunter, Londyn etc. crowd. :-P Donyld, maybe?

I'd bet we'll get a fair amount of Trumps (and an upsurge in Clintons, too).

I prefer TheDonald, with spurious extra capital :pSeriously though, if there are any extra Donalds born it's much more likely to be due to grandpas & great-grandpas, as it was a top 10 name in the US for almost twenty years. I would have considered it as a middle name myself after the spousal grandpa, who by all accounts was an excellent chap. One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch.

A surge in popularity? *laughs* What I strongly predict as do many others as well, the name Donald will keep decreasing. Thank god. I fail to see Donald getting back into high popularity. It's a dated name anyway. The only way I can see it on a younger individual is as a middle name

Hi !!!I will always dislike this name because of McDonald's...But I hope nobody will use it because of Trump.Byeeeeeee

It was an ugly name before and it's even uglier now. Never liked it - but I like Donnie.

I remember a lot of people were turned off by the name George during Dubbya's years even if they supported him as president because he was a very controversial figure and they were worried about people associating politics with their child's name. And George has always been a common name. Considering Donald hasn't been popular for a long time naming your child Donald would be something of a statement, and I think that would only appeal to a small number of people.

I think, if people are going to name after him, they'll probably use Trump rather than Donald.

TrumpJust thought I'd throw in that 'trump' is a word for 'fart' in Northern England.

That's nice!

Not just northern England. I grew up in the south and it was in widespread use there!I've just heard a reporter on Sky News refer to Trump's trumps and a bad odour as well as other reporters making a similar play on words.

I don't think Donald is a name that will appeal to many Americans, it's been falling for years. I think his middle name, John, would appeal more to parents but many don't associate it with him.

I hope not. I guess some people who voted for him might use it especially for babies born in the next few weeks out of enthusiasm, but those who didn't will stay as far away from it as they can. Overall its popularity will only increase a tiny little bit, if it will increase at all. I feel sorry for poor Hillary and Hilary. It is such a lovely name, but has been falling like crazy since the early 90s.

Probably not.Based on the popularity of names like Ronald, William, George, Barack over the last 35 years, I don't think the president's FN has much influence on baby name trends...but who knows, maybe Trump will be the exception.
