Thoughts on Richard?
Been thinking about Richard quite a bit, opinions?

I really like it as a name. Think it works really well on a child and adult, there's just the unfortunate nickname of Dick....
very old fashioned, also dick.
I love this name. It's very strong and masculine and has lots of history and tradition behind it. Yet unlike the fellow-classic William it's relatively in the doldrums. I predict it will rise again, though!
Not only has it been on-and-off my Top 10 ever since I became a name nerd, but it's a huge family name on my father's side - at least four of them, including my grandpa. Men named Richard have been a positive influence in my life. Therefore, I wouldn't doubt it if I did name my future son Richard, should I have any children. I would probably call him Rick.

I've never liked it, despite the fact that it's a family name--the name of my maternal uncle and my brother's middle name. I think I don't like the syllable "rich." I do, however, like the nickname Rick.
Ha! Me too! Well, I've been thinking about Rikard. I have a new co-worker with that name and I used to really dislike Richard / Rikard but now that I've actually said it out loud quite a lot it's not that bad. It's dated and I would be very surprised to meet a baby Richard but I don't really dislike it anymore. It's a bit surprising how saying a name out loud can change your perception of it.
Very dated and kinda harsh.
