I know of 2 Marks, one being around the same age as me and the other being in his 40s, so, in a way, it does sound like a classic, though I haven't heard of any baby Marks so it does sound dated as well.

As to the last question, if a particular Marcus decides to have a nickname, then I would say I prefer Marcus "Marc" as opposed to Marcus "Mark."
