Cicely
How do you feel about the plant name Cicely? I really like it; earthy and whimsical. I think it's more spritely than Cecily, which I like moderately.

Definitely prefer Cecily, it looks nicer

I've always liked it and preferred it to Cecily. I like it because of the herb, although when said aloud most people think of Sicily. :/

It looks misspelled, like you meant to spell Cecily. I would spell it Sicily, like the place.

It's hissy.

Well, it always looks like a typo for Cecily to me.

I far prefer Cecily, partly for family reasons as there are Cecil guys on both sides but also because where I live, Cecil and Cecily both have a short e sound (SESil, SESili) and I like that better than SISili, which is how I would pronounce Cicely - I've never heard it spoken.

Cicely makes me think of Sicily and then the mob and then we go down a whole negative thought black hole. I prefer Cecily.

I agree with this sentiment.
In addition, the "sis" sound at the beginning can go both ways. Cute nickname for a little girl, perhaps. However, easy bullying opportunity (i.e. Sissy).

Cool. Cicely avoids Cecily's unpleasant meaning, so for me is usable whereas Cecily is not.

I adore Cicely! It's so verdant in my mind's eye.

As a kid I loved it and thought it was pronounced sies-lee rhymes with nicely. Then I later learned it was pronounced more like Sicily. Which I don't like as much. It reminds me of the place and I don't care much for place names unless they have special meaning. Also it kind of sounds like sissy or that someone is doing something sissily. But I like that it is a plant name and I'm an fan of the fairy artist Cicely Mary Barker. It is my mother-in-law's favorite girl's name but my father-in-law didn't care for it enough. They almost went with Kiera Cicely nn KC for their daughter but they didn't.I wouldn't be against using it as a mn for a future child to honor my mother-in-law since she is against us using her fn or mn to honor her if she is alive. She is largely against honoring names whether the person is alive or dead because she worries that children will try to emulate the person they were named for and feels that children should just try to be themselves. She thinks if the honoree is currently living the pressure on the child to be like that person is even stronger.Went a little off track. In conclusion I feel that Cicely is a good name, I like it but I don't love it for the reasons listed above.

Definitely prefer it to Cecily - I never liked the "sess" sound. Though I do prefer that spelling over Cicely.

I like both Cicely and Cecily a lot, but I definitely like the meaning of Cicely more, as Cecily just means "blind". So Cicely would be a great alternative if you didn't like the meaning of Cecily.

I know they would probably have been pronounced the same once upon a time, but I prefer the sound of Cecily to Cicely. And Cicely seems a bit old ladyish somehow

Cicely seems like a misspelling of Sicily to me. I just can't get past that. I like Cecily moderately as well.

Both Cicely and Cecily remind me of Sicily a lot. Not bad in itself, but that always makes me think of a joke in which the punch line pointed out the similarity to 'so silly'. In short, Cicely = Sicily = So silly. Just can't get it out of my head, even if it is a bit of a dumb reason haha.
