Meh, it's an okay name. Wouldn't use it myself and might raise an eyebrow if I heard someone named it but overall not too weird. Also for some reason I think of a dog when I see it?

Otis is a cool retro name that I wouldn't be surprised at if it surged in popularity (particularly among hipsters). However, I would never use it, due to a terrible association in my adolescence.

I like it a lot. And I don't think dogs should have people names!!

I like it very much and hope it becomes more popular. I would use Otho before I used Otis because of family usage.

I think it is better suited for a pet than a child.

Not a favorite. All I can think of is that Otis is a company that makes elevators. But it's an OK name anyway.

Otis was my gf's name, but that doesn't change my opinion that it's a hick, countrified mess of ugly.ETA that his nn was Otie. Could it possibly get any worse?

Alright and OK enough but it does sound better on a dog

I like it a lot. We have friends with a little boy called Otis, he will be four at the end of the year. His younger brother is Felix! I love the names together!

Whenever I hear the name Felix the next name I think of is usually Linus or Calvin. When I hear Linus I think Otis. When I hear Otis I think of Milo and Miles. All these names: Felix, Linus, Calvin, Otis, Milo, and Miles match eachother well.My long point is that I definitely feel that Otis and Felix go well together as siblings.

Used to think it was vile. Now I think it's kind of cute since gaining an appreciation for Otis Reddding + seeing it on an actual kid. It's a little try-hard and hipstery though.

Sounds like a hipster name IMO.

It reminds me of Milo and Otis the cute animal movie. It also reminds me of the singer Otis Redding. But it reminds me more of my uncle Otis - may he rest in peace - who died of cancer about 8 or 9 years ago.My uncle Otis didn't speak much but like my father when he chose to speak he had something important to say. He was a book worm and a stern but kind school teacher. He believed strongly in education and travel. So when I think of the name Otis it reminds me of a stern but kind teacher, librarian, professor, or someone who works at a museum. Otis does feel a little dated to me. Also my uncle Otis looked and reminded me of a tortoise in his mannerisms. Otis is even similar to the word tortoise.I like Otis but definitely a little dated. The name that reminds me of it a bit and feels less dated is Linus. Also Otto which Wordsmith mentioned, it feels less dated but similar. Otto feels like a more European version of Otis.

I love it! I also love Odo, Otho (unrelated), and Otto.

It's alright. Feels backwoodsy and clunky vintage, which are both good and bad.I have friends who were deciding between Otis and Benjamin for their son. They took the easy route and chose uber popular Benjamin. Otis, although not my style, would have been more refreshing.

It reminds me of dogs and elevators. However, I still think it's quirky and fun.I would never name anything Otis myself, but I admire the gumption of others to do so.

I don't like it! I just don't get its appeal at all. One of my best friends has a 6 year old Otis, though, so I can't complain about it to her, lol.

Otis and his brother Cletus and sister Beulah Sue live in Punkin Holler and are champions at Cow Chip Bingo. Beulah Sue is this year's Succotash Queen and Otis is Mr. Sassafras. It's total hillbily, but I suspect it might become a minor hipster/ironic darling for a year or so.When I was very little I had a Cabbage Patch Kids album on tape, and one of the main characters was a Cabbage Patch boy called Otis Lee. (The two CP girls were Sybil Sadie and Rachel Marie, called Raymee.)Otis also sounds vaguely breakfast-cereal. Eat your Otis Oat Balls with Sunsweet Prunes and be regular all week.
