I am not English speaker. I pronounce as hehr-mee-aw-nuh.

In Harry Potter (original UK version) when Hermione is teaching Victor Krum how to pronounce her name that JK Rowling means it to be pronounced "Her-my-oh-nee"

Definitely not her-mee-oh-neh, but it also doesn't start with "har."

Pretty much the way it says when you click into Hermione on this site. I think it's also influenced by how it's pronounced in the Harry Potter 'verse, since I love Harry Potter and couldn't imagine it pronounced any other ways.

I say it her-MY-o-nee. The 'o' sounds is nearly indetectable though.

On a side note, in the Dutch translation (how I read the first three books) her name is Hermelien, when I switched over to English for the fourth book, it took me a few tries to get the right 'flavour', settling on teh above. It was coincedentally also the book in which she teached Krum to say her name.

I pronounce the name Hermione as her-MY-oh-nee. I've always had a soft spot for the name because of the beautiful David Bowie song "Letter to Hermione" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC0RSXOemQs
He doesn't actually say the name in the song, but since the real Hermione was a British woman, I'd assume it was pronounced similarly to above.

I don't think the English pronounciation is ugly but it sounded odd to me when I first heard it on Philosopher's Stone. I would have never guessed it right, I knew nothing about pronounciation rules when I was 10 and I still make mistakes sometimes.

I don't think hər-MIE-ə-nee is ugly. I think it sounds nice, sort of heroic.
hehr-mee-OH-neh is probably nicer when an Italian says it, but I actually think it would be uglier when said by a person with an American accent!

Io (as in Ione, Iolanthe, Iona etc) is always pronounced 'eye-o' in English. So yes, Hermione is the way English speakers pronounce Hermione.

I say Her-MY-oh-nee, and I think most or at least most in places where Harry Potter is popular would say it like that. But I do know that the orignial pronunciation is Her-mee-oh-nee, but I personally find that it reminds me of the word 'meanie', so this is one of the cases where I wouldn't use the original pronunciation. I absolutely love Hermione, mostly because of the Harry Potter character; it's very high up my list.

hə-MIE-ə-nee is correct in English. Other languages probably have their own pronunciations.

I say it as Her-my-knee

One of the books, "The Goblet of Fire" I think, has Hermione explaining to one of the visiting students from another country how to pronounce her name, and she does say it's Her-MY-o-nee. He was saying it Her-mo-ninny.
It's not a simple name, I don't think, and it's Greek pronunciation.
