I've never come across it but I'm glad I just did. Means "whelp, young dog" in Gaelic. That sounds like a joke Wikipedia edit! Love it.The name itself is fine. It's just that there are so many other names like Kalyn, Keelin, etc. that are popular (mostly for girls), and Cailean kind of just blends in. I have the same thoughts about Celyn which I like in theory, but it ends up sounding like a bland trend. That may not bother you, though. It's a good name.
