Saranya
Just came across the Indian name Saranya. It seems to be mainly used by Tamil speakers.
I think it's beautiful. Wdyt?

It sounds nice. If I didn't know it was Tamil I would guess it was a mix between Sara and Anya.
One site on the net claims it means "surrendered"; I don't know if this is true since I obviously don't speak Tamil!

I Google-translated "surrendered"...
and the phonetic spelling came out as "caranatainta" :/

I think it looks and sounds pretty. But a little exotic for my Midwestern little town.
I think it reminds me of Saran wrap.
I think it is beautiful. I had a friend named this growing up, her family did indeed speak Tamil. I don't like that it looks like Saran, and it sounded closer to Sarenya when my friend or her siblings said it.
It's pretty, but sort of reminds me of Saran wrap. That could maybe be fixed with a slight spelling variation; maybe Syrania, or Cyrania.
I have an aunt named Soraya; it means "galaxy" in Persian (according to her).

True about Saran Wrap (lol the iPhone capitalized that??). I actually think part of the reason I'm drawn to it is because it looks like a mash up of Sara and Anya.
Soraya is pretty!
