I think Diamond is perfectly acceptable as a name. I would use it as a MN but it works as a FN too. I see the little one as a girlie girl, all pink lace and purple ruffles.Combos I like are:
Diamond Eve
Diamond Lee
Diamond Cassidy
Diamond Isabela
Diamond Isadora
Diamond Simone
Diamond Taylor

Diamond is too much of a common word to be used as a name. However if you did use it I would pair it with a fairly common, non-word name.Diamond Jennifer
Diamond Hannah
Diamond Eleanor
Diamond Catharine
Diamond Maxine
Diamond Veronica
Diamond Rebecca
Diamond Agnes
Diamond Elsa
Diamond Evelyn

I like Diamond.I haven't read the responses yet, but I anticipate "stripper" comments. I don't think it's a stripper name. I think it's lovely, and sounds very good, and fits in with Ruby and Pearl just fine. Diamond might be a little flashier, but so what? I like it.

Sorry, but I find it tacky and it also makes me think of "blood diamonds."

I like it. I think it's one of those names that could seem like a tacky name on a bearer who seemed tacky, or stuckup on a bearer who seemed stuckup. It's very "on the nose," not subtle; but not clunkier / clumsier than other thing-names like Ocean or Ivy. The name is probably the least glitzy and self-conscious of all the bling names. It sounds namey to me ... like it would be as easy to forget that Diamond's name is a stone, as it is easy to forget that April's name is a month.
Adjectives, I dunno ... earthy / heavy, cool (temperature), simple, androgynous.

The only Diamond I've ever known was a college classmate of my husband's and he was a male. So even though Diamond is a jewel name and all other jewel names are female, it just seems male to me.

Normally I love gemstone names, but Diamond is one of the few that I can't get behind. It is just too rough.

I have a cat named Diamond and I also know a Jack Russell as well name that. For a pet, it's fine but as somebody's real name? Eh, no! LolI don't mind it as a surname though. Say, Sarah Diamond or Jeff Diamond (actually knew a guy named that)I'm glad Diamond left the charts and no offence, I hope it stays off \: just my opinion. It's more of a pets name or a stage name.
