I grew up near a big family with an eldest son Declan, and never noticed that it was Irish. But in retrospect they had an Irish surname, and the sibs included Colleen and Kathleen. So.
What I don't like about it is that Americans say it as if it ended in lyn. So you get creative things like Decklynn on girls. Too tryndee. Otherwise, I would think it was pretty nice. NMS though; the cl in the middle doesn't work for me.
