I keep reading this accidentally as the Spanish word "bailar." So I can't honestly see it as a name for either gender.

Sounds male. Sounds like someone from Game of Thrones.

But, it sounds more like an ogre name rather than a human name, like something from The Lord of the Rings.

I like the *sound* of Bailor/Baylor but I don't like the connotations that Baylor brings for me. The University predominantly but also John Baylor, the nephew of Justice Baylor (the founder of Baylor University), who was a pretty terrible man.

It's just kind of two syllables devoid of meaning, and they're pretty bland syllables at that. I couldn't assign a gender if I tried.
