May vs Mae

I think I prefer May but I'm not a huge fan of the name anyway.
A friend just named one of her twins Mai which is the French spelling of the name (although I believe there are other meanings to it as well). I don't know why they chose it. I've seen Mai used a few times in hyphenated names along with May and Mae e.g. Ellie-Mae, Lily-Mai etc.

I like the name May / Mae. It's sweet and old fashioned. I slightly prefer Mae, because it looks more "name-y" to me. Which is weird because I have no problem with August, June or April. Perhaps it's because "may" is also a word, like "I may go to the cinema".
As for combos, I like something long and/or dramatic in the middle:
Mae Clementine
Mae Albertine
Mae Aurora
Mae Valentina
Mae Rebecca
Mae Theodosia
Mae Delphina
Mae Georgiana
Mae Genevieve
Mae Philomena
Mae Cordelia

I generally prefer Mae, I just like how it looks a little more but it really depends on the overall look of the combo. I don't prefer either one strongly.
I like Mae more. It's sassier. I had a great-aunt of this name, but I'm not sure which spelling it was.
Mae!
