Just for fun: I've been thinking about the nickname Kit. I like it, but I don't like Christopher at all. What could be another full name for nickname Kit?

I love Kit! I know two brothers called Alfie and Kit, both full names. I think it's really nice.

How about using the name on a girl instead, as a nickname for Katherine? There is already Kitty as a pet form for Katherine, so Kit wouldn't be too much of a stretch at all.

Yeah, you're right about that. But I think I still prefer Kitty over Kit, at least on a girl.

Someone suggested Keith, which I think could work, probably because I like Keith anyway! Or perhaps a foreign-language version of Christopher might work? There are lots to choose from, but they're all pretty recognisable for what they are.

Apart from that, there's Beckett. I'm not a fan of lnfns but some are better than others. And there's also Kitchener, for a retro military vibe. Your Country Needs You!

Maybe KIT initials is the way to go? That seems the next logical way to get Kit as a nn. Personally I think Kit makes a great full name and actually, I think it would work perfectly with your other kids names!

Bit of a stretch, but I'd pick Keaton for Kit.

Keaton Isaac nn Kit.

Could always stick a T name on the end to make KIT from the initials.

I think I'd just pick Keaton Isaac though.

ETA: Kester? Isn't that another form of Christopher?

Kester is the Scottish form of Christopher. But I don't like it at all. Keaton Isaac is nice though.

Christian? Possibly Kenneth, but that's a stretch and I'm not sure why I thought of it at all.
The American Girl character/doll known as Kit is really Mildred Kittredge, so it could also come from the last name.
I'm thinking it could also (without a really huge stretch) come from Kurt or Curtis.

Of course it could also be initials. Like the talking car in Knight Rider.

I have a friend who recently named her son Kit, just Kit, so I think it can work on it's own.

However, longer names could be:

Kester
Keaton
Ketil
Clement
Beckett
Kjartan
Canute / Knut
Karsten
Courtney

I love the idea of Kit as a nickname for Clement. Also, it would be good with Kjartan, although Kit isn't Scandinavian at all.

Kit is nice as a nickname for Patrick. I still prefer Paddy, but given the connotation I'm not sure it's usable. So Kit is a good alternative.
