Dorothy
I was just watching My Three Sons on you tube and apparently "Dodie" is a nickname for Dorothy. Is that legit? Why not Dotty or Dorry?

Yeah it's legit. I know of several Dorothys that go by Dodie. One of them is a youtuber!
Dodie Smith, who wrote 101 Dalmatians, was a Dorothy. And the heroine in George Eliot's Middlemarch was called Dodie by her younger sister, which suggests it originated, like many nicknames, in a child's first efforts to pronounce a long and difficult name. Dotty and Dorry are alternatives, but there's also Dot and even Doh. Why not?
If you look up Dodie on this site, you will see it says it's a diminutive of Dorothy. So yes, it's legit. However, "My Three Sons" is the only place I've ever seen Dodie as a nickname for Dorothy. I remember an actress named Dody Goodman, but I looked it up and her real name was Dolores.
I agree that Dodie is terrible and just about any other nickname for Dorothy is better, even Dotty.
