I'm not sure if my last name started with a T that it would completely put me off using Tamsin, but it would certainly make me think twice about it. I would keep looking for other names I liked that didn't start with T so I had a few options.

Tamsin is pretty enough; where I live, it's dated to the 1970s, and it seems too nicknamey to me, but it's certainly OK.

I was at school with - off the top of my head - Allison Adair, Barbara Bam, Cheryl Clark, Deborah Davis, Mary Mitchell and probably many more. None of them had a moment's trouble, to my knowledge. I also knew a Johnny Johnson who raised no eyebrows either.

It's nice, it's usable.

It would depend on the surname but I think most T surnames would work with it.
Tamsin Talbot, Tamsin Truman, Tamsin Taggart ... they don't sound bad. Memorable.

I like it. I have a cousin named Abbie Tamsin. I'm not overly keen on alliterative initials, but it ultimately depends on the surname. If it begins TA or ends IN then no.

Re last name, it depends. As-Tamsin Thompson, no.But Tamsin Trecartin, yes.

I fell in love with Tamsin after reading about the Donner Party, a member of which was named Tamsin Dinner. That may not seem like the best association, lol, but to me it gave the name a nineteenth century pioneering vibe and thus a lot of charm.
