It does still seem a little grandmotherish to me, and Dora the Explorer would stop me from considering it for a child. But I like it, and I don't think the associations would mess it up too much for a girl born right now. I think it can seem young on a young person.

I kind of like it better as a short name for a Theodora, Isidora, Eudora, etc.
I like Dory / Dorie even more than Dora.
