Yes, it's too outdated. I usually advise against using names that surged in popularity and then fell like a stone, and Erin fits the bill. In this case, though, even if it weren't for that, I'd still never ever ever ever use Erin because it is one of my most hated names ever. I think it is so so ugly, both written and spoken, and don't get the appeal at all.My niece's middle name is Erin. She is Brenna Erin. When I was told her name by my sister, I couldn't stop myself, I said, "Erin?? Where did you get that from?" She said, "Well, it's a name, so we decided to make it her middle name." It was a stupid question, but what it really meant was, "WHY did you make her middle name Erin??" Because I hate it so much. Turns out that my then brother-in-law really liked it so my sister agreed to make it the middle name.
